SUBMISSION: Baobab Halo by Brian Kamprath
ENDANGERED: Fine Art & Photography Contest 2019 Submission
A majestic baobab tree illuminated by a full moon on the island of Madagascar. The tree was outside a small local village and shows some of the marking traditionally seen on the trunk. The long exposure allowed the stars to create small streaks in the sky.
I utilize photography in an attempt to capture the beauty that I see in the world. Whether I'm witnessing a wry smile on a mountain gorilla's face as it glances around its troop in Uganda, the character of a charismatic Amsterdam canal, or the sun breaking the shell of a new day over the wetlands near my home, my goal is to share that beauty with others through photography.
In the end, I hope my photographs evoke a feeling of connection with viewers and the subject, and potentially spark an appreciation that leads to them developing their own passion for the subject.
