SUBMISSION: A Snapped Twig by Len Rusin
ENDANGERED: Fine Art & Photography Contest 2019 Submission
Indian Rhinos responding to a noise in the weeds. I was privileged to observe an Indian Rhinoceros and her calf at a local zoo. I was surprised at how attentive the mother was to the baby Rhino. She made sure the calf was always near her and if not she used some body signals that the calf better be close. I was amazed at how quick she and the calf moved when the keeper made a sound inside the barrier door. I can only imagine how quick they would move in the wilds of India if they heard a twig snap in the tall grass. I tried to capture this moment in black and white with pencils.
