SUBMISSION: They Will Be Lost Forever by Robert Huckestein
ENDANGERED: Fine Art & Photography Contest 2019 Submission
The painting shows what we will lose if we continue to ignore what we are doing to the environment. The earths ecosystem cannot survive our continued abuse of the earth and its natural resources.
My work uses the figure, the architecture of the city, and objects to tell a story either in a cityscape, landscape, or still life. These narratives could be about a social, political or cultural situation. They are often taken from the news of the day, from history, or from my own life experiences in the past or the present. I use a number of different mediums, including graphite, and pastels, but my primary medium is oil on canvas. My paintings are developed from photos I have taken, as well as pencil and oil sketches, which help to develop a certain story line that I want to create.
These paintings are created in a realistic style that is true to the subject matter contained in each painting. The use of color and value (light and dark) in each painting is important in order to project the emotion that I originally felt when I first decided to create a certain work of art. Throughout my life I have always had a desire to work as a full time artist.
