ENDANGERED: Fine Art & Photography Contest 2018 Submission.

Mixed media and collage are applied to reflect the natural beauty, complexity and raw force of the great apes of Africa. The great apes are seriously endangered and demand awareness and active protection for survival. Both paintings aim to heighten our appreciation and understanding of the great apes. I use mixed media in all of these works, and collage elements in some, to emphasize the visual beauty, pictorial complexity and quietly inherent physical strength of the subjects.
