ENDANGERED: Fine Art & Photography Contest 2018 Submission.

These collage images emanate from the natural beauty, physical complexity and raw power of the Everglades environment., informed by the natural light and deep dark lushness of bright tropical sunlight. As the Everglades are the only sub-tropical environment in the United States, these works are meant to heighten the viewer’s appreciation of, and intensify the connection to, the nearby Everglades of Florida. I compose mixed media and collage elements in these two works, emphasizing the vibrant, colorful visual beauty and delicate textural complexity of the subjects.

There is a purity to the connection between the intensity of these natural elements and their continued existence and place in our constructed and managed environment. This creates a communal whole and inspires me to create work to spur the viewer to continued intense observation and appreciation of our Everglades.
